New energy systems for the energy transition since 1982

The engineering office for new energy systems (NES) was founded in 1982 by Dr. Falk Auer with a focus on innovative solutions in the field of measurement technology for renewable energies. Early on, the company specialised in the development of mobile data acquisition systems under the brand name MODAS, which have been successfully used in more than 40 countries, particularly in development aid projects. These systems have proven their reliability and robustness in extreme environments over decades.

Since 1998, Dipl.-Geophysicist Lothar Viel has been leading the company and relocated the headquarters to Erlensee near Hanau. In the following years, NES strategically shifted its focus to the development and distribution of irradiation and climate measurement technology for the renewable energy sector. Today, we are a leader in providing precision measurement technology that is essential in photovoltaic applications and climate research. Our innovative products help companies worldwide to assess renewable energies, use them more efficiently, and drive the energy transition forward.

With the transformation into NES Sensors GmbH, the international growth of the business activities was taken into account in 2023, and the company was positioned for the future. In 2024, the management was taken over by Dipl.-Ing. Stefan Galler. NES continues to stand for continuous development, technical excellence, and quality. Our measurement technologies are equally valued by research institutions, energy suppliers, and industrial customers. With a clear focus on the requirements of the future and a deep understanding of our partners' needs, we contribute to the dissemination of sustainable energy solutions worldwide.
